Kellie Case Passes Customs Broker's Qualification Examination
This past April, sixteen hundred candidates sat for the Customs Broker's qualification examination. Nationwide, only three hundred and twenty passed. We are very proud to say that our Kellie Case passed the test and after a credit and background check by the government, she will become Camelot's fourth licensed Customs Broker.
The broker's exam "back in the day" used to be given orally. Then it was a written test. Then it was one hundred multiple choice questions. Today's test is eighty multiple choice questions to be answered in four hours. It covers the regulations, classification of merchandise and other Customs programs such as C-TPAT and the CATAIR.
Everyone who has sat for the test remembers it vividly. When I passed forty years ago in April, 1968, you didn't get a letter in the mail. Customs agents visited your neighbors for your background check and that is how you found out you passed.
At Camelot, we are proud to say that there is more to a Customhouse Broker than just a Customs entry. There are hundreds and hundreds of hours reading the regulations and knowing how to classify and interpret and then you sit for a test, the sole purpose of which is to find ways to prevent candidates from passing.
If you can make it through that minefield, the exuberance of, "I never have to take that test again," is an incredible reward.
Camelot is proud of our staff and their personal commitment to make us the best possible company we can be.
